The launch of Kilometre.paris in Japan was a great success. People were very excited about the brand and the event hosted at Super A-market was attended by a great crowd. Editor in chief of Ginza Publishing House was there, as well as a fashion journalist from the Fashion Bible. Kilometre.paris aesthetic seemed to fit perfectly in this store that sells vintage and work-wear inspired and quality clothes. Their clients are real Kilometre women : chic and easy. During the event, a pregnant woman tried one of our shirts and it actually fitted her perfectly, which made us very happy. Perfect for mommy style too.
As the launch was very special to us, Kilometre created an exclusive design for the owner of Tomorrowland – Sasaki San inspired by his destination of choice, Hayama. A little town by the seaside about 1,5 hours away from Tokyo, a secluded place away from all the hustle of the big city.
Moreover, we presented an exclusive Kilometre concept to Super-A market. We brought along twenty vintage shirts that are to be embroidered in Mexico from one of the design the clients choose in the artsy Kilometre catalogue. On these shirts will also be embroidered the initials of the clients, making it even more unique and timeless. A true made to measure piece.
It’s truly amazing because in Japan people have a strong sensitivity towards artisanal fashion – it was appreciated the way we try to breath in new life into old pieces through the traditional savoir faire of embroidery and contemporary designs. A bridge between old and new, Kilometre is also a bridge between cultures, as the little movie we shot shows : a Japanese arriving in Paris, a French arriving in Tokyo. This movie is shown en boucle at Super-A Market till the end of the pop-up. If you’re in Tokyo, please come and visit us, we’ll be happy to tell you more about.
