Kenzo Season 0 Featured on Le CiNéMa Club
Intrepid and cosmopolitan Kilometre loves to embrace the different curious, poetic and cerebral perspectives of the world. This is why we love the abstract and beautiful work from the three emerging filmmakers on Le CiNéMa Club chosen by Kenzo. These three young artists stem from various corners of our world, and through their work explore their interpretation of the theme “Inhabit the Earth” for Kenzo Season 0 film series. At Kilometre, we love this topic of discussion which chimes well with our core values; discovering the ways in which we inhabit and interpret each corner of the world is Kilometre’s DNA.
Mati Diop, French and Senegalese filmmaker, captures the youth of Paris on the night of a heat wave in her short film Olympus. From the perspective of her brother, we travel through the city at dusk on his bicycle. As the night progresses, Mati captures a group of young Parisians and transforms their ordinary night into a moment suspended in time. Eduardo Williams’ film titled TZZD touches on the human experience of sensation during sleep. He questions reality based on the way in which we experience the normal and the unfamiliar. As the protagonist falls asleep, the viewer is taken to surreal scenes and poetic landscapes with a young Bolivian man in La Pez. Untitled (Juice) by young French filmmaker Baptist Penetticobra, uses the trivial topic of Juice to explore the theme. He stretches this subject as far as possible leading it to eventually become abstract.
These young creatives have established themselves in the world of filmmaking, already having received a variety of awards for their talent. So tune in, you are unlikely to be disappointed. As the temperature drops outside and with Le CiNéMa Club at your finger tips there is no reason to leave the comfort of your home.
