From Jean Dubuffet and Henry Darger to Howard Finster and Adolf Wölfi, outsider artists have redefined art and culture. Forgetting artistic conventions; ignoring art critics; creating freely; returning as artists to a child’s state of mind – a place of boundless imagination.
Outsider artists challenge art culture like Kilometre is redefining fashion itself. This coming weekend, we celebrate these artists as New York’s Outsider Art Fair comes to Paris. The Outsider Art Fair in Paris celebrates raw, outsider art, a movement that goes beyond the boundaries of the conventional; creative, imaginative, anything but mainstream. Not only will Outsider artists exhibit their works but children will become artists themselves! Kilometre introduces “Draw Me Your Travel.”
On Sunday October 23rd, your children help us to rediscover the world, envisioning far-off places in their drawings. Perhaps a child journeys to outer space, to the moon; perhaps their travel is a beach, a forest of trees, an orange dessert. From the familiar to the unknown, the raw creativity of children will run wild with Kilometre at the Outsider Art Fair.
Our embroiderers will bring children’s ideas of travel to life on vintage shirts, scarves, and handkerchiefs. Purchasing one of these designs will help fund the travel of young kids – between 17 and 21 years old – in partnership with the Foundation Zellidja.
While children draw, parents can explore the fair. This year’s lineup includes 38 prestigious galleries from around the world, 15 of which are new exhibitors, as well as 2 curated spaces: FranzHuemer and Self-Portrait With My Neuroses. Discover not only contemporary outsider art but also historical Art Brut.
