Join us in the Big Apple for the second round of our Draw Me Your Travel event series at Outsider Art Fair, the world’s first and only fair dedicated to Art Brut, Folk and Outsider Art. Kilometre invites children (and kids-at-heart) to draw their New York City boroughs and neighbourhoods. These designs will then be embroidered on shirts, canvas grocery bags, handkerchiefs and scarves. Journey with us to the five boroughs of NYC, seeing them through the eyes of your kids. Proceeds will benefit the Zellidja Foundation, which allows youth to take a month-long trip to their dream destination.
Our event at the fair coincides with Outsider’s 25th anniversary. This year, Outsider partners with art critic Edward Madrid Gómez on a curated booth that will display a piece from each year of the fair, from 1993 to the present. In addition, the quiltmakers of Gee’s Bend, Alabama will have their own stand – be sure to check out the vibrant, abstract textiles of these living treasures, dubbed “the Klees and Chagalls of the American deep south” by curator and historian Alivia Wardlaw.
Explore the fair whilst your child draws, or join them in the fun – creativity has no age limit.
Outsider Art Fair, Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 West 18th Street.
Saturday, 21 January from 11am to 6pm and Sunday, 22 January from 11am to 8pm.
