Everything gets blurry with so many stripes. The saturation effect due to accumulation transforms the vision we have of those paintings, and all together they work as one single huge optical illusion. At the center of the room, surrounded by all those vertical stripes, you feel a bit dizzy. But pull yourself together, this is no magic trick. Art works brought together by an original curating almost act like magic, as they disturb so deeply our perception of the environment; a white cube art gallery hidden right in the heart of Les Galeries Lafayette. Thanks to Samuel Gross, it’s all about stripes there, Mai-Thu Perret’s stripes, John M Armleder’s ones, Vera Molnar’s and so on. Try to find out who’s who is an amusing and confusing game. But don’t think too much, let yourself get carried away by this sensory experience. Take a stroll in this Pop art scenery built up on abstract works.
Kilometre’s team was lucky enough to discover the show five hours before its opening. The whole team gathered there for a shooting for Côté Sud Magazine; here are the backstage shots.
